Quintin McGinnis

Quintin McGinnis

Managing Partner & Co-Owner

Quintin McGinnis has dedicated his life to serving the families of Pulaski County and the surrounding areas. A lifelong resident of Pulaski County, Quintin began his career in funeral service shortly after graduating from Pulaski County High School in 1983. He earned his degree from the Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, Indiana, graduating in 1987. That same year, he became a licensed funeral director and embalmer, credentials that have underpinned his professional commitment ever since.


Quintin joined Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in 1986 and has managed its daily operations since 1992, the year he also became the owner. Today, he serves as President of the Board and as a member of the Board of Directors, while remaining a full-time, active member of the funeral home staff—continually upholding the highest standards of compassionate service.


Beyond his work at Morris & Hislope, Quintin has served the profession at the state level as President of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association for 2008–2009 and has completed over 200 hours of continuing education in advanced restoration procedures. He is a Kentucky Colonel, a member in good standing with both the National Funeral Directors Association and the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, and an active member of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce.


Quintin has two children, Quintin II and Ariel M. McGinnis. Open-minded and respectful toward all faiths, he considers it a privilege to assist families through some of their most difficult moments.

Tyler Hibbard

Tyler Hibbard

Lead Funeral Director & Embalmer

Tyler Hibbard, son of the late Jerry and Brenda Hibbard, is a lifelong resident of Pulaski County who grew up in the Shopville community. With nearly two decades of experience in death care, Tyler has devoted his professional life to guiding families with compassion and care during their most difficult moments. Since joining Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in May 2006, he has become the Lead Funeral Director, overseeing daily operations and ensuring that each family receives the highest level of service. In addition to his daily responsibilities, Tyler also serves on the Board of Directors for Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.


Tyler’s journey in funeral service began in November 2004 while he was still completing his senior year at Pulaski County High School, from which he graduated in 2005. Committed to learning and professional growth, Tyler earned an Associate of Arts degree from Somerset Community College before continuing his studies at Union Commonwealth University, where he received a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Psychology and Chemical Dependency, as well as a Master of Psychology. Further dedicating himself to his calling, he also obtained an Associate of Science in Funeral Service from Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.


Tyler is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Kentucky and also holds a Kentucky Life & Health Insurance license. His commitment to excellence is reflected in his membership in the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and his recognition as a Kentucky Colonel.


Outside of his work at the funeral home, Tyler finds great fulfillment in teaching as an adjunct professor of Psychology at Somerset Community College—a role that allows him to share his knowledge and passion for the field.


In his personal life, Tyler enjoys diving, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He shares his home with three cherished dogs—Phil, Silas, and Ruby Sue—who bring joy to his days.


With dedication, empathy, and nearly twenty years of experience, Tyler continues to serve each family with the respect and care they deserve.

Bruce Phelps

Bruce Phelps

Funeral Director & Embalmer

Bruce Phelps has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over four decades, dedicating more than 36 years to the funeral profession. A lifelong resident of Pulaski County, Kentucky, Bruce began his professional career at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home under the guidance of J.B. Morris and Denver Hislope. Over the years, he has remained deeply committed to the funeral home, where he now proudly serves on the Board of Directors.


Throughout his career, Bruce has combined his dedication to the funeral profession with a commitment to public service. He is a past board member of Science Hill Nazarene Church and formerly served as Vice-Chairman of the Science Hill Board of Education for the Science Hill Independent School System. He is also an active member of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce and holds the honorary title of Kentucky Colonel. In addition, Bruce maintains membership in good standing with both the National Funeral Directors Association and the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association.


Bruce’s dedication to serving his community extended to his work as Deputy Coroner for Pulaski County under two administrations. Outside of his professional and civic roles, Bruce enjoys fishing and the quiet reflection it brings.


Bruce has been married to Rhonda Hall Phelps since June 12, 1981. Together they have one son, Cole Phelps, who continues the family tradition of service. Cole is a graduate of Murray State University and the University of Louisville’s Master’s Program and earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of Pikeville. Today, Cole serves as an Emergency Room physician at Methodist Hospital in Union County, Kentucky. Cole’s wife, Katie, is also a physician, further continuing the family’s dedication to caring for others. Bruce is also a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Rhys, Ellis, and Sloane.


In 2004, Bruce faced significant health challenges, undergoing six coronary bypass surgeries. Reflecting on this period, he shares, “The experience has made me stronger in my faith and better at what I do. I feel it was God’s way of showing me how precious life is, and how quickly we can be called away. It has challenged me to make the most of my time here on earth by helping those in need.”


Bruce’s deep faith and civic devotion continue to guide him daily: “I feel that I am at my best when I am helping others. I also try to share the hope and strength that my faith gives me when difficulties arise in my life and in the lives of others.”

Allen Price

Allen Price

Funeral Director

Allen Price is a licensed funeral director at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and a lifelong resident of Eubank, Kentucky, which he proudly calls home. An active and dedicated member of the Eubank Baptist Church, Allen has faithfully served as church treasurer since 1982.


In addition to his church duties, Allen serves on the Board of Directors for the Eubank Fire Department, the Eubank Cemetery, and the Northern Pulaski Food Ministry. He is also an engaged member of the Eubank Ruritan Club, demonstrating his strong commitment to community service and civic leadership.

Michelle Godbey

Michelle Godbey is a licensed funeral director in Kentucky and a lifelong resident of Pulaski County. The daughter of the late Estil and Betty Godbey—who owned and operated City and Veterans Cab Company for many years—Michelle was raised in Somerset before making her home in Science Hill, where she has lived for the past 23 years.


A graduate of Saline Christian Academy, Michelle later attended the University of Kentucky. Before entering funeral service, she built a successful 25-year career as a retail manager, developing the dedication to service and attention to detail that now benefit the families she helps each day. In 2020, she brought this experience and compassion to the team at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.


Outside of her professional role, Michelle enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and being active in the local community—reflecting her warm, approachable nature and commitment to those around her.


With every family she serves, Michelle offers a steady presence and genuine care, ensuring they feel supported and respected in their time of need.

Thomas Slagle

Thomas is a licensed funeral director and embalmer who joined Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in 2023. A native of Pulaski County, Thomas graduated from Southwestern High School in 2011 and has always had a passion for serving his community with care and respect.


After years of dedication, Thomas graduated as the salutatorian of his class at Mid-America College of Funeral Service, where he further strengthened his commitment to helping families through their most difficult times. Before entering funeral service, he also built a successful career as a Master Barber, licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky—a testament to his attention to detail and service-oriented nature.


Thomas is married to his high school sweetheart, Kasey, and together they have two children, Harrison “Harry” and Ellie, who are the heart of his life outside of work.


A dedicated member of the Morris & Hislope team, Thomas combines professionalism, compassion, and personal warmth, ensuring that every family he serves feels supported and cared for.

Shellbie Sutton Powers

Office Manager

Shellbie Powers serves as the Secretary and Office Manager at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. A lifelong resident of Pulaski County, she was raised in Science Hill, where she met her husband, Nathan. They have been married for ten years and are proud parents of two children, Addison and Keaton. The family also shares their home with two beloved dogs, Benji, a Golden Retriever, and Winston, a Corgi.


Shellbie enjoys a variety of hobbies, with baking, reading, and outdoor activities among her favorites. Each year, she looks forward to family vacations to Panama City Beach, a cherished destination for them. Since 2022, she has actively contributed to the community as a Chamber Ambassador for the Somerset Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.


With many years of experience in customer service, Shellbie is committed to going above and beyond for those she serves. Her role at Morris & Hislope allows her to extend this dedication to the families they assist, ensuring that every expectation is met with care and professionalism.

Mike Phelps

Mike Phelps

Mike Phelps joined the staff of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in 2025. He brings a lifetime of service and compassion to his work, rooted in decades of experience in counseling, social work, and pastoral ministry.


Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Community Counseling, and a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling. His professional career includes 27 years as a Family Service Office Supervisor in social work and 8 years as Family Preservation Program Director. He also served 9 years as Executive Director of Grayson Clinic, Oasis Care Center, and Friends of Kentucky Families.


In addition to his administrative and counseling experience, Mike has dedicated over 13 years to Pastoral Counseling, Peer Support, and Spiritual Life Coaching. He has been a Licensed Nondenominational Pastor for 28 years and continues to provide spiritual guidance and support to those in need.


A proud U.S. Army Veteran (1968–1970), Mike served as a Rank Specialist E-5. His service instilled a lifelong commitment to helping others with integrity and compassion.


Mike is married to Jennifer Lynn Stogsdill Phelps, and together they have one son, Matthew Boyd Phelps, and three grandchildren: Dakota Handshoe, Kaiden Boyd Phelps, and Lennon Kristine Phelps.

Karen Richardson-Britt

Karen Richardson Britt joined the staff of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, bringing with her a lifetime of diverse experience in business, design, and compassionate caregiving.


A native of a family with deep roots in the Nancy, Kentucky area, Karen’s connection to community service runs generations deep—her maternal grandfather served as Superintendent of Mill Springs National Cemetery from 1946 to 1959. The daughter of a Wesleyan minister, she was born in Ottawa, Illinois, and spent much of her youth in Springfield, Ohio.


Karen attended Indiana Wesleyan University, majoring in Criminology, and began her professional career in the banking industry. Over the years, she held various roles including teller, customer service representative, and supervisor of an installment loan department. After relocating to Cincinnati, Ohio, she transitioned to the mortgage field, serving as both a department supervisor and a mortgage loan originator for many years.


Following a successful career in banking, Karen pursued her passion for design, earning a degree in Interior Design from Antonelli College in Cincinnati. She later worked as a traveling sales territory manager, representing designer fabric lines to interior designers across multiple states. Her dedication and professionalism were recognized in 2010 when she was named Salesperson of the Year.


In addition to her professional accomplishments, Karen has been actively involved in public speaking and community service. She has led design seminars, given church announcements, and served as a caregiver to her elderly mother until her passing in 2024, as well as to her uncle, whom she helped relocate to senior memory care in Somerset.


Karen married her husband, David Britt, in 2013, and together they moved to Somerset following his early retirement. She is an active member of First Baptist Church, where she participates in the choir and serves as a leader in the Women’s Ministry.


Outside of her professional and church activities, Karen is a plant enthusiast with a green thumb, a member of the local garden club, and enjoys spending time with her beloved dog, Piper.

Bob Whitaker has been a respected member of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home team for several years. A lifelong resident of Pulaski County and native of the Shopville community, Bob’s deep roots in the area enrich his dedication to serving local families.


He is married to Kathy Whitaker and is a proud father to his daughter and stepson. Bob’s unwavering commitment and dependable presence make him an invaluable asset to the firm, where he consistently exemplifies professionalism and compassionate care.

Penny Jones

Penny Jones is a lifelong resident of Eubank, Kentucky. She has been married to her husband, Bill R. Jones, for 43 years, and they have one son, Samuel ("Sam") Jones. Penny attends Eubank Baptist Church and enjoys being part of a close-knit faith community.


For several years, she has helped coordinate local outreach through the Northern Pulaski Food Ministry, working alongside others to support families in need. She also serves with the Angel Care/Angel Tree program, helping organize gifts for children and families during the holidays.


Penny is a former long-time member of the Eubank Ruritan Club and continues to take part in efforts that bring the community together.


She's thankful for the chance to serve and support her neighbors in simple, meaningful ways.

Mike Brock is a lifelong resident of Nancy, Kentucky, in Pulaski County. After a dedicated career with Windstream, he retired and has since become a valued member of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home team for several years.


Mike loves helping the community and takes great pride in supporting families during their times of need. He can often be seen assisting with various tasks throughout the funeral home, bringing a dependable and compassionate presence to every role.


A devoted father, Mike cherishes his children and draws strength from his family’s support as he serves the community he calls home.
