Wanda Elaine Thompson

Wanda Elaine Smith Thompson, age 74 of Somerset, KY, entered into rest on Sunday September 13, 2026 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was loved and cared for by everyone she met and will greatly be missed.

Wanda was born on March 28, 1952 in Paragould Arkansas to Earnest and Ettar Smith, and later came to Kentucky to be with her beloved husband Windle Thompson. She professed salvation and was a member of Shelter Baptist church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Ettar Smith; as well as her husband, Windel Thompson; her daughter, Tammy (Thompson) Pyles; her son, Tracy Thompson; 3 babies she never got to hold earth side; her sister, Melonie (Smith) Smelser; and her four brothers, Odell Smith, Wesley Smith, Leon Smith, and Elbert Smith;

She is survived by her children, James & (Samantha) Thompson, Marlina & (Michael) Coomer, Jody McCrystal, Travis Thompson, and Misty & (Donald) Morgan; her sisters, Joy Resseler, Shela & (Jim) Weesner, and Judy Dennis; her brothers, Dewayne & (Joyce) Smith, and Kevin Smith; her grandchildren, Logan & (Kathleen) Coomer, Jordan & (Sara) Coomer, Rachel & (Adam) Phelps, John Thompson, Ray Moon, Dakota & (Cody) Williams, Andrew Moon, and Timothy Moon; as well as many great-grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Wanda knew she was a burst of joy and love, because of that she wanted anyone who wanted to, to wear bright and colorful clothes to her services.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to hospice of lake Cumberland for their compassionate care in such a difficult time."

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Phelps officiating.

Burial will be in Poplarville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2026 until time for services.
