Virginia Pauline "Ginny" Gossett, age 82 of Somerset, Ky passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Born on August 10, 1943 in Somerset, Ky, she was the daughter of Samuel Doyle (Bosie) Vaughn and Ethel Arzona Johnson Vaughn. She graduated from Somerset Highschool in May of 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee "Bob" Gossett a few weeks later on June 3, 1961. They both later became Christians through the door-to-door visitation ministry of Bible Baptist Church in Parker City Indiana. They attended and served the Lord in many wonderful churches together over the years, most recently as members of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Ginny loved talking to people which led her to a long successful career in direct sales. She hosted Home Interior and Home and Garden parties for many years and became well-known and loved by the many people who welcomed her into their homes. She also spent several years working in Christian schools and teaching Sunday School classes, during which time she led many young people to the Lord. She never hesitated to ask anyone she met, "Are you saved? Am I going to see you in Heaven?" Even when Alzheimer's affected her memory, it never touched her faith or her desire for others to know Jesus.
She loved her family enormously and was their biggest encourager, cheerleader and supporter. She naturally saw the good in people and was ready to go to battle for any one she loved. Over the years she became known as "Gran" to many people because she took everyone under her wing and loved them like her own family. Her fierce loyalty, great sense of humor and quick wit will be forever missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Joy Wilson, as well as her parents and several siblings.
She is survived by her spouse, Robert Lee "Bob" Gossett of Somerset; a daughter Bobbie (and Danny) Playforth of Somerset; six grandchildren: Caleb (and Jessica) Wilson of Somerset, Joshua (and Emily) Wilson of Somerset, Gideon Wesley of Somerset, Ashley Playforth of Bowling Green, Brittany Brown of Somerset, Carly (and Kenan) Dobbins of Bowling Green; and 15 great-grandchildren: Haylee Wilson, Austin Wilson, Zoey Playforth, Tucker Wilson, Savannah Playforth, Kyler Wesley, Casen Wilson, Colsen Wilson, Brayden Wilson, Cecelia Brown, Tate Dobbins, Riley Brown, Sloan Dobbins, Lainey Wilson, and Charlie Wilson.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Jones officiating along with Bro. Randy Wiles, Bro. Trevor Reynolds, and Bro. Junior Pittman speaking.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time for services.
