Virgie Mae Merrick

Virgie Mae Merrick, 82, of Somerset, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born in Boones Camp, Kentucky on April 7, 1937; daughter of the late William and Sena Castle Crum.

She is survived by three daughters, Brenda & (Ernest) Begley of Lexington, Deborah Merrick and Beverly Owens both of Somerset; her former husband, Ervel Merrick of Lexington; one sister, Vinita Daniels of Paintsville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Lewis, and Opal Walters; a son-in-law, Ronnie Owens; and one grandchild, Jennifer Rogers.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Scaggs and Bro. Troy Merrick officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after 12 PM Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
