Thomas Shadoan

Thomas Douglas Shadoan, age 80, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at University of Kentucky Hospital.

He was born October 28, 1943 in Winchester, KY to the late Lester and Acey (Davis) Shadoan.

Tommy was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until his health no longer permitted. He loved missions of all kinds, having personally taken numerous mission trips to Nigeria, Russia, and different U.S. cities. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army. Over 40 years ago, Tommy and his wife Ruby founded Science Hill, Somerset, Burnside Florists, Greenhouses, and Gifts. For years, he also was an avid coon-hunter and fisherman.
But most of all, Tommy loved his family and did all he could to take care of them.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby (Merrick) Shadoan; one daughter, Valerie & (Steve) Lockwood, of Clearwater, FL; one son, Marty & (Becky) Shadoan, of Columbia, TN; five grandchildren, Karrie Beth & (Tyler) Bourne, Nathaniel Shadoan, Adam & (Sarah) Shadoan, Jacob Lockwood, and William Lockwood; five great grandchildren, and special faithful employees of over 40 years, Jenny Dobbs and Allison Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother who died in infancy, Harold Lee Shadoan.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Shadoan officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 AM until time for services at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
