Shirley Elaine McGinnis

Shirley Elaine McGinnis, 89, of Bethelridge, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

She was born on October 7, 1937 to the late Mark Leonard & Roxie (Daulton) Ashley in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Shirley found joy in the simple beauty of life. She loved crocheting and took great pride in her flowers and garden, where she especially enjoyed watching the hummingbirds come and go. Her love for nature was evident in the care she gave to everything she grew. Shirley was of the Methodist faith, and her quiet faith and gentle spirit were cherished by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Don McGinnis and Wayne McGinnis; her daughters, Lesa McGinnis and Balinda Passmore; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Glenn McGinnis; and a son, James McGinnis.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Vance officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 AM until time for services.

Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
