Shirley Fostene Cress Johnson

Shirley Fostene Cress Johnson, 76, of Kentucky Highway 328 West in Eubank, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at her residence surrounded by loved ones. 

 

Born Sunday January 14, 1945 in Eubank, Kentucky; she was the daughter of the late Estill & Susie Glass Cress. 

 

Her loving husband, whom she married on August 2, 1963, Lewis T. Johnson of Eubank survives. Together, Shirley and Lewis were foster parents for 24 years. Shirley was a member of Pilot Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher in the Nursery. She was a housewife, who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her husband, she leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Robbin Johnson of Eubank; three sons, Dexter Johnson, Bruce & (Edith) Johnson, and Scott & (Jill) Johnson of Eubank; eleven grandchildren, Natasha Bullock of Eubank, Dustin Godbey of Kings Mountain, Tyrone Godbey of Somerset, Davin Godbey and Lorionna Johnson both of Eubank, Joshua & (Morgan) Johnson of Science Hill, Jaira Johnson of Somerset, Cody & (Paige) Johnson, and Krista Johnson both of Eubank, Taylor & (James) Griffith of Harriman, TN., Carley & (Ryan) Shanks of Science Hill; six great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Charles & (Geraline) Cress, Verlan & (Reva) Cress, Bob & (Carolyn) Cress, Shannon Cress, Linton & (Connie) Cress, and Johnny & (Wanda) Cress all of Eubank; and Earlin "Dude" & (Alane) Cress of Waynesburg; three sisters, Marslene Littrell of TN., Charlotte Cress of Science Hill, and Linda Cress of Eubank; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends who mourn her passing.

 

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by four brothers, Odell Cress, Olen Cress, Leles Cress, and Daris Cress; and one sister, Velda Cress Combs.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 29, 2021 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Timothy Roberts and Bro. Greg Haynes officiating.

 

Burial will be in Cress Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
