Rufus "RJ, Pops" Girdler, 67, of Somerset, Kentucky, went home to be with his parents in the early morning hours of  Sunday, January 29th, 2023

Rufus was born on June 18th 1956, to Ella and Ralph Girdler in Science Hill, Kentucky. 

He was a down to earth man who loved life and his family. He prefered to live his life wild and free. He was loved by everyone who knew him whether family or friend. His son, Austin, described him as giving the best hugs. His granddaughter Jadyn said they were tight and always took your breath away. Anyone who had ever received one could agree.

Rufus is survived by 5 children, Aimee Smith Bowles, Michael Girdler, Brian Girdler, Angela Girdler Kendall, Austin Girdler, and son-in-law Freddie Kendall. He had 4 Step-children Jesse Reardon, Jodi Kuhn, Chad Ross, and Wayne Ross. 8 grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Kendall, Jadyn, Izabella, and Ryan Girdler, and Hayden and Andin Girlder, and Sofia Pardini. And 3 other Grandchildren. 1 great-grandchild Dalton. Also three Sisters Madeline Girdler, Arlene Burchette, and Barbara Girdler, 2 brothers Milford and Wayne Girdler. He is preceded in death by his parents,  2 Brothers, Lonnie Girdler and Tom Girdler. One sister Jeanette Slack. And one nephew, Timothy Smith..

Rufus is being cremated by Morris and Hislope funeral home in Science Hill, kentucky. His children will plan a celebration of his life at a later date.
