Rodney Dean Thayer

Rodney Dean Thayer, 71, of Somerset, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

He was born on December 21, 1949 in South Dakota; son of the late Don & Ruth (McBride) Thayer. He was a certified psychologist and also was an employee for State Guardianship Services.

 

He is survived by three sons, Scott & (Jennifer) Thayer of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Wesley & (Sheila) Thayer  of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jason & (Kim) Thayer of Somerset; a brother, Don & (Judy) Thayer of Wisconsin; two sisters, Donna & (Norval) Hall of Colorado and Vickie & (Les) Blindauer of South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Janet Thayer of South Dakota; seven grandchildren, Ben, Will, Shelby, Matthew, Emily, Jacob, & Eli; and several step-children and step-grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathy (Girdler) Thayer; and a brother, William Thayer.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Jasper officiating.

 

Visitation will after 12:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
