Ricky McCoy

Ricky Lynn McCoy Jr, 33, of Somerset, Kentucky finished his race here on Earth on Monday, June 23, 2025 at St. Joes Main in Lexington, Kentucky.

Ricky was born on December 3, 1991 to Ricky and Tammy McCoy in Somerset, Kentucky. He was a member of Higher Praise Ministries, and a former member of Brush Creek Holiness Church. Ricky enjoyed fishing, video games, being outside, playing ball with his brother-in-law, nephews, and sisters, having bible study with his mommy and daddy weekly, and most of all spending time with his family. Ricky loved Jesus with all his heart, and because of that love he loved big. If he knew your name, then you meant something to him, because he only learned the names of people who held a special place in his heart.

Ricky had faith like a child, and fully believed God would do what he says he will do. Ricky prayed with his mommy nightly and once you made it on his prayer list you stayed on his prayer list. That's the kind of heart he had. Ricky had the best sense of humor. He loved making others laugh and trying to gross others out.

Ricky was greatly loved by his family, and all who took the time to get to know him and will be greatly missed. For years we have prayed for his healing. On Monday he got his ultimate healing. We find peace knowing that he is running the streets of gold.

Ricky is survived by his parents, Ricky and Tammy McCoy of Somerset; sisters, Carrie McCoy of Somerset and Samantha (McCoy) & Eric Yancey of Science Hill; two nephews, Levi and Kylan Yancey of Science Hill whom he adored; grandparents, Ed and Bonnie Lovins of Somerset; grandma, Bernice McCoy of Eubank; special extended family Randall and Teresa Yancey of Science Hill; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa John McCoy; uncle Eugene McCoy; and cousins, Becky King and Anna McCoy.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center for their love and care for Ricky through the years, and the staff at Rockcastle Hospital ICU for their care and support over the past three weeks.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 28, 2025 at High Praise Ministries 4896 Lake Cumberland Rd. Mt. Vernon, Kentucky with Bro. Chris Davidson, Rev. Lonnie McGuire, Ricky McCoy, Sr., and Bro. Stacy Tuttle officiating.

Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Friday, June 27, 2025 at Higher Praise Ministries and after 11 AM Saturday, until time for services.
