Richard "Rich" Hosner, 74, of Science Hill, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.
He was born in Cadillac, MI; son of the late Archie & Avis Greeley Hosner.
Rich retired from the maintenance department of Grey Iron Factory in 1989, where he belonged to the 668 Union. He served as an assistant Cub Master in the Cub Scouts for all three of his sons. He loved working on wrecked cars, and restoring old ones. He volunteered for the Waynesburg Fire Department and served for 10 years on the Waynesburg Rescue Squad. He served the United States Army during Vietnam between 1969 & 1970; where he was deployed in the 134th Aviation as a Crew Chief. He served faithfully, keeping helicopters in the air. He was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Somerset.
He married Diana Lynn Reetz who was his pen pal while in Vietnam. They were married on Friday, November 13, 1970 and spent 50 loving adventurous years together. She blessed Rich with four sons, whom he was very proud of. Together they spent time traveling, camping, parasailing, ziplining, enjoying car shows; but, most of all, they enjoyed spending time with their children and family; and their brother-in-law, Cecil & Dian Ruiz of Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Hosner; three sons, Brian Hosner, Chris & (Leila) Hosner, and Steve & (Angel) Hosner; grandchildren, Tyler Reetz, Arianna Hosner, Jesse Hosner, and Kaitlyn Hosner; brother and best friend, David Hosner (Micah 2:1-2), Jon & Mare Hosner Chesaning, MI.; Sugie & Pastor Dan Lamb of Ohio; Susan Conklin of Montrose, MI; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie & Avis Hosner; and two sons, Eddie Hosner, and Rickie Hosner.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Doug Couch officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38.
Burial will be in Northside Memorial Gardens, Science Hill.
Visitation will be from 5:30 PM to 8 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, and after 11 AM Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church until time for services.
