Rena Kay Buchanan

January 1, 1942 — July 26, 2021

Rena Kay (née Stallard) Buchanan's spirit left this world on July 26, 2021 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, Kentucky. She was born on January 1, 1942 to Helen (née Anderson) Stallard and Samuel Orbin Stallard, both of whom are now deceased. Surviving her are her husband, Calvin Buchanan; her sister, Wanda Frye; her brother-in-law, Randy Frye; her niece, Shelly Souders (and Jeff); her nephew, Sam Dick (and Marlana); her grandnieces, Samantha Gides (and Patrick), Amanda Conner, and Savannah Dick; and her great-grandnephew and niece, Chase and Isla. She was always extremely proud of her nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Buchanan was recognized as a devotee to the field of education and especially to the Pulaski County School System. Having taught language arts and business classes at the high school for 29 years; she was transferred to Southwestern High School at its opening in 1993, where she assisted by creating its business department. Retiring from Southwestern, she also taught business classes at Somerset Community College, the Center for Rural Development, and for the Adult Education Program. She ended her career in the field of education by creating, organizing, and maintaining an office for the Pulaski County School System's official records. In many positive ways, Mrs. Buchanan touched the lives and futures of innumerable Pulaski Countians over a  span of five decades.

She is a member of the Church of Christ, having remained faithful from the time she had reached the age of accountability and made her confession, to the present.
