The recipe for a well lived life according to Rebecca Kay Whitaker was simple: a cooking show on the TV, a garden full of flowers, a cat in your lap and a house full of grand kids. She peacefully departed from this life Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at her residence.

Rebecca was born on March 13, 1947 to the late Daymon & Gertrude (Waters) Childers in Somerset, Kentucky. She attended Trinity Fellowship Church.

She is survived by her children, Lisa & (Doug) Ridner, Jesse Shawn Whitaker, and Lora & (Phillip) Walker; her grandchildren, Samantha & (Joshua) Bannochie, Jesse Garron Whitaker, Elliott Dick, Carissa Whitaker, Sara Rose Walker, and Clayton Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Gracie Whitaker and Presley Moore; and a brother, Lowell Childers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, JD Whitaker; her parents; and her sisters, Dencie Cook and Lou Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026 in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Renner officiating.

Burial will be in the Rainey Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time for services.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
