Listen to Obituary

Pamela (York) Payton, age 54, of Somerset, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on Friday, November 14th, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on January 6, 1971, Pam was the daughter of the late Earl B. York and Melinda Collins. She spent much of her childhood with her aunt and uncle, Joyce Atwood and the late A.F. Atwood, whom she lovingly considered a second set of parents.

Pam married the love of her life, Ronnie Payton, in 1988. They shared 16 years of marriage until his passing. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two devoted children, Kristen Payton (Aaron Fischer) and Kyle Payton (Hannah Allred). Pam was also blessed with one grandson, Grayson "Gray" Joseph, who was truly the "apple of her eye". She affectionately called him "Bootsie," and their bond was one of her greatest joys.

Pam is survived by her siblings, Earlene (Mark) Wallace, Mike York, Doug York, and Rick (Crystal) Wesley. She also shared a sisterly bond with her cousin, Tammy Price Anger and treasured the friendship of David VanHook. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna (Don) Estes and Faye Taylor.

Growing up in Eubank, Pam attended Cuba Church of God, where she accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at Buck Creek. Faith remained a cornerstone of her life. While living in Indiana with Ronnie, the two were active members of Spirit of Truth Church, where Pam served on the Praise & Worship Team and Ronnie was ordained into ministry. In recent years, Pam continued her service and worship through Spirit of Truth Outreach in Somerset, occasionally singing with the Praise Team and volunteering in the Children's Church Ministry. Pam was a true worshiper of God whose love for the Lord guided her daily life.

For more than 20 years, Pam was a dedicated employee of Tri-City Motors, serving as Office and Property Manager. She loved her work and had a remarkable gift for helping others. Known for her radiant smile, strong work ethic, and generous heart, Pam made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She possessed a servant's heart and lived a life that demonstrated kindness, humility, and compassion.

Pam's greatest earthly blessing were her family. After Ronnie's passing, she embraced single parenthood with strength and determination, ensuring Kristen and Kyle were surrounded with love, support, faith, and stability. Her home was always filled with laughter and became the gathering place for friends and family. She proudly cheered on her children and grandson, celebrating every milestone with unwavering love.

Pam leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply and cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025 beginning at 11 a.m. at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. A Funeral Service/Celebration of Life will follow at 2 p.m., officiated by Dusty York and Carson Atwood.

Pallbearers: Aaron Fischer, Josh Johnson, Logan Joseph, Travis Durham, David VanHook, Jr., and Brad Cassada.
