Ona Jones

Ona Jones, 81, of Waynesburg, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 22, 2026 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital.

Ona was born on August 3, 1944 in Pond Ridge, Kentucky to the late Thelmer & Eula (Shea) Sims. Ona was a devoted homemaker who dedicated many years to caring for her family and home. She enjoyed watching Westerns, reading her Bible, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren. One of her favorite traditions was celebrating her birthday with a weenie roast, a gathering that brought family and loved ones together. Ona will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, and the special memories she created with those she held dear.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Jones; her daughters, Annette & (Tim) Haas, Sherrie Slone & (Danny B.), Debbie Woods & (Rick Haas) and Donna & (Rob) Slone; her sisters, Opal Hatter, Oma Black, and Ora Caudill; 9 grandchildren, Erin, Amber, Andy, Thad, Debbie Jo, Dixie, Elliott, Shelby and Lane; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Delmer Sims and Gilmer Sims; her sisters, Ova Padgett and Oca Hatter; and one grandson, Luke Slone.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Eastham officiating.

Burial will be at Double Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time for services.
