Janis Dewane McAninch, 89, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018.
He was born in Casey County, Kentucky on April 8, 1929, son of the late Millard and Nora Mullins McAninch. He was a Korean War veteran, an elder, a Sunday school teacher and member of Eubank Church of Christ. He served as an active member and founder of the Waynesburg Area Rescue Squad and was a lifetime farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gertrude Johnson McAninch, one son, Larry & (Janice) McAninch and one daughter, Shelia Mesaris of Waynesburg. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Shane & (Rhonda) McAninch of Waynesburg, Jeremy & (Candace) McAninch of Hustonville, Jerry & (Michelle) Martin of Waynesburg and Rachel & (Chris) Pivonka of Knoxville, TN, nine great-grandchildren, Hannah, Tanner, Caleb, Kaylee, Jansen, Logan, Gatlin, Noah B and Noah A and a special caregiver, Shirley Pike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Millard "Junior" McAninch and one grandson, Cody Mesaris.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 16, 2018 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Robins officiating.
Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with Military honors by the Lincoln County American Legion Post #18.
Visitation will be after 5 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
