Melvin J. Caldwell

Melvin J. Caldwell, 73, of Eubank, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 3, 2020, after a battle with cancer.

He was born May 6, 1946 in Casey County; son of the late Chester Arther & Millie (Salyers) Caldwell. He lived on Polly Ann Ridge with his wife of 52 years, Brenda, son, Darrin, and great-grandaughter Shayla. He was a member of Church of God Heaven Sent Mission in Waynesburg. He taught Sunday School and was Assistant Pastor with Kinney Caudill, since the church was founded in 2009. He loved and served the Lord with all his heart. He has been a Christian for 45 years and preached the gospel for 43 years. He witnessed for the Lord every where he went and his life is a great testimony. He made a multitude of friends by doing this. A true soldier in the Army of God.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons, Darrin and Jeff & (Becky) of Science Hill; grandchildren, Jeffrey & (Mindy) of Monticello, Jeremy & (Michelle) of Burnside, Josh of Waynesburg, Mason, Madison, Michael of Monticello, and Bristol of Somerset; great-grandchildren, Jerah, Jaxon, Jakob, Madelyn, Braxton, Shayla, Bralie, Lane, Zaden, Logan, and Kayla; brothers, Jimmy & (Lou Ann) of Jamestown, Paul of Mt. Olive, and Timmy & (Malisa) of Highway 39; sisters, Dorthy Foley of Waynesburg, Louise, & (John) Walls of Science Hill, and Deva & (John) Swartz of Eubank; and a host of other family members and more friends than you could count.

Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Caldwell of Eubank; and sister, Edith Smith of Indiana.
