Mary E. Godby

Mary E. Godby, 73, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on October 29, 1945; daughter of the late Edward and Daisy Neikirk Hall. She retired from Southern Belle Dairy as a bookkeeper after 42 years. Mary was a devoted Christian, pastors wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved and believed in helping others, placing others above herself. She loved flowers, cooking, and always had a listening ear. She was a devoted member and treasurer of Beech Grove Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Godby of Somerset; her son, Darin & (Bonnie) Godby of Somerset; grandchildren, Sandrina Godby of Bowling Green, Nicolas Godby of Ferguson, Richie & (Rebecca) VanHook of Somerset, and Katlin & (Lee) Cook of Somerset; nine great-grandchildren; her brothers, Carl & (Ina) Hall of Terre Haute, IN, Charles & (Ann) Hall of Somerset, Bert & (Toy Lee) Hall of Science Hill; sisters, Lula Bowman and Paula Wesley both of Somerset; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Daisy Hall; a brother, Donald Hall; and two brothers-in-law, Lonnie Bowman, and Lowell Wesley.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Darin Godby, Bro Bert Hall, and Bro. David Bowlin officiating.

Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Monday, October 28, 2019 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
