Marvin Smith

Marvin Smith, 78, of Somerset, KY passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 at UK hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born on May 13, 1947 to the late Ruice and Mildred Neal Smith.

Marvin was a man of unwavering dedication, both in his professional life and as a family man. Throughout his entire life, he was a hard working man. From his long-time career with Pepsi, multiple years as a security guard, and last few years as a Pest Control Specialist, his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in every task before him. He was known for his jovial outlook on life and caring demeanor. He touched many lives throughout his journey and never knew a stranger.

Beyond his career, Marvin was a devoted and loving husband to Judy for 28 years and a loving father to 3 children: Angela Smith of Somerset, Tracey Smith (Kim) of Somerset, and Tonya Wesson (Josh) of Somerset;and multiple grandchildren: Summer Smith of Somerset, Austin Smith of Somerset, Brandon Watkins of Somerset, Michael Watkins of Somerset, Paige Watkins of Milan, IN, and Jasmine Rollins of Somerset. He will be greatly missed by many.

Marvin enjoyed staying busy, from his constant pride in his yard work to his small shopping trips just to see his grandchildren at their jobs. For Marvin, it was the little things that mattered. Simple leisure pleasures of reading, watching westerns, and listening to Bluegrass and Country music filled his downtime.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother Melvin Smith, daughter Angela, and sons James, Robert, and Mike and survived by his brother Gene Smith of Lexington and other nieces and nephews.

A funeral Service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the chapel of Morris Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, KY with Bro. Rick Lawson officiating.

Burial following at Smith-Grove Cemetery in Faubush.

The family will receive friends after 10:30 AM Thursday, July 10, 2025 until time for services.
