Lowell Tarter, 86, of Nicholasville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the Cedarhurst Senior Living.
He was born on December 8, 1939 to the late Brent & Ada (Trimble) Tarter in Nancy, Kentucky. Lowell took great pride in his work as a barber and enjoyed spending his time following the stock market, discussing politics, and tending to his garden. A faithful member of Crosswoods Baptist Church, he lived a life rooted in service and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Maretta Tarter; three daughters, Kimberly Staton, Jill & (Billy) Keys, and Jen & (Adam) Hartley; a brother, Garnett & (Sue) Tarter; four grandchildren, Blair & (Doug) Randall, Kate & (Josh) Winter, Taylor Keys, and Devin Keys; 6 great-grandchildren, Jamey Randall, Laural Randall, Paisley Randall, Elijah Randall, Lydia Winter, Alamander Pierce Winter; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, John, Russ, Lloyd, Bill, RC, Amos, Ed, and Rook; five sisters, Betty, Elsie, Erma, Reva, and Adell; a son-in-law, Alamander Staton; and one great-grandchild, Riley Staton.
Pallbearers will be Eric Maples, Todd Maples, Dean Bryd, Brent Tarter, Adam Hartley, and Marty Trimble. Honorary Pallbearer is Prentice Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in the Chapel at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Bruce officiating.
Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time for services.
