Leo F. Jones, 80, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Bethelridge, Kentucky on September 6, 1937, son of the late Arthur and Dora Phelps Chaney Jones. He was a retired fireman for the Somerset Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a Kentucky and Somerset Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Avera Jones of Science Hill, two sons, Darrell Jones of Nancy and Leo Jones of Eubank, one daughter, Vickie Baker of Shopville, two step sons, Richard Avera and Jason Childress, both of Science Hill,one sister, Wilda Childers, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He loved his two dogs, Chicken and Jazzy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Tom Jones, one sister, Hilda Trimble and one grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Bradley Goforth officiating.
Burial will be in Bethelridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 10 AM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
