Lena Mae Floyd, 95, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was born on September 29, 1929, in Quail, Kentucky, to Clyde King and Pearl Ann Taylor.
Before marriage, Lena worked at Palm Beach. On December 29, 1949, she married the love of her life, Lowell Floyd (known to many as Lody). They began their life together with a honeymoon in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, and went on to build a home filled with faith, hard work, and love. They ran a dairy farm side by side, raising their children and teaching them the value of family, honesty, and a strong work ethic. Many of Lena's fondest memories-and stories she loved to share-came from those years on the farm.
Lena and Lody's love story began on the steps of Providence Church of Christ, where he offered to walk her home (and had to ask twice). Their marriage was a shining example of devotion and partnership. Lody passed away 41 years ago, and now Lena rejoices in being reunited with him in Heaven.
Above all else, Lena was faithful to the Lord. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Providence Church of Christ. Her gentle spirit, humble heart, and steadfast trust in God were evident to all who knew her.
Lena lived simply, content in the blessings God provided. She loved baking for her family-especially her famous chocolate pie, whose recipe came from her sister Bernice, found in a ditch before they got on the bus for work. She enjoyed long talks in her favorite place-her front porch swing-sharing stories of her childhood and her beloved sister Corrine. She was an avid reader, gardener, and quilter, making sure her family was never without green beans and hand-stitched quilts-gifts of love that will be treasured for generations.
Her life was one of quiet strength, selfless service, and unwavering faith. Those who knew Lena will remember her not only for her many pies and quilts, but also for her warm smile, her wise words, and her love for her family.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Lake Cumberland for the excellent care and kindness shown during Lena's final days.
