Lela Stith

Lela Norene Stith, 80, of Danville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital.

Lela was born on January 5, 1945 to the late Henry Bastin & Gletha (Cooper) Sims Bastin in Casey County, Kentucky. Lela was known for being a perfectionist and always staying well organized. She liked to look her best and never left the house without fixing herself up. She was a Registered Nurse and worked for American Greetings and Ephraim McDowell Hospital. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time in her garden, especially caring for her tomato plants. She was also a very good cook and loved making meals for others. Lela was a member of the Eubank Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Jeff & (Robyn) Stith; two granddaughters, Audrey Stith and Emma Stith; her sisters, Leona Bentley and Louetta & (Elvin) McAninch; a sister-in-law, Carol Bastin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hays Stith, who passed January 7, 2023; her parents; and her siblings, Lealus & (Anna) Sims, Lois & (Tom) Williams, Arnold Bastin, Earl Bastin, Lucy & (Robert) Smith, Lewis & (Frances) Bastin, and Keith Bastin.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025 in the chapel at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Robins and Bro. Barry Lee officiating.

Burial will be at Salyers Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
