Lavone Dyer Whitis

Lavone Dyer Whitis, 83, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday April 23, 2019 at the Terrace Nursing & Rehab Facility in Berea.

She was born September 8, 1935 in Pulaski County, the daughter of the late Swannie & Dovie (Reynolds) Cash. She was the widow of the late Melvin Dyer, whom she joined in marriage August 13, 1951 until his passing on February 23, 1992. She later remarried William Whitis of Somerset on April 23, 2001. She was a member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ. She spent her life as a mother & homemaker, however, received her cosmetology license in 1976.

She is survived by her husband, William Whitis; a daughter, Rhonda & (Don) Bloomer of Somerset; a brother Donald Wayne Cash of Crab Orchard; six Grandchildren; and six Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Melvin Dyer; two sons; Larry Dyer & Roger Dyer; three brothers; Loyd B. Cash, Granville Ray Cash, & Glen Edward Cash.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Cromer & Bro. Zac Evans officiating.

Those serving as pallbearers are; Don Bloomer, Macy Bloomer, Elliot Bloomer, Jimmy Wheeldon, Zac Evans, & Larry Phelps.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in the Willailla community.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 after 9:30 AM at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Fairview Church Cemetery Fund.
