Kelley Leigh McCowan Tackett, 47, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was surrounded by her beloved family and friends.
Kelley was born in Richmond, Kentucky on December 20, 1970, daughter of Jean Teater McCowan and the late JB McCowan. She was a graduate of Richmond Model and Eastern Kentucky University with degrees in business administration and counseling.
She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, daughter, aunt and friend. Her quick wit and vast knowledge, be it current events, trivia, or a quirky spin on all things newsworthy, endeared her to so many. Her athletic talents were displayed on the tennis court and softball diamond, while her public speaking and critical thinking skills were displayed in mock trial competitions.
Kelley had a great love of literature and she used that skill as an acquisition specialist for the Pulaski County Public Library where she taught computer classes and led monthly book clubs.
Kelley was first and foremost a follower of Christ, worshipping and serving Him faithfully as an active member of the First Christian Church, Somerset. There she served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. She was always first to offer a prayer, helping hand or word of encouragement to anyone in need. Her random acts of kindness touched the lives of many.
Kelley leaves behind her husband, Jim Tackett and their cherished son, Camden Brent Maxim Tackett, her mother, Jean Teater McCowan, father and mother-in-law, Brent and Anne Tackett, sister-in-law, Christy & (Rodney) Oakes, nieces, Meredith Oakes and Caroline Oakes and nephew, Grant Oakes.
She was preceded in death by her father, JB McCowan and grandparents, Delbert and Ressie Jo McCowan and John and Entha Teater.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 6 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018 at First Christian Church, Somerset, 1115 Hwy. 39, Somerset, KY 42503.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 15, 2018 at First Christian Church, Somerset with Rev. Steve Lesher, Rev. Joe Altman and Dr. Michael Gatton officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Education Fund of Camden Tackett, C/O Forcht Bank or First Christian Church General Fund.
Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
