Kathryn Dungan

Kathryn Dungan, of Old Hickory, TN, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, of natural causes. She was born on May 4, 1924 in Science Hill, KY. Kathryn was the daughter of Samuel Ramey Godby and Anna Bell Butt Godby.

Kathryn is survived by her son, Samuel of Lexington, KY, daughter, Judy (Tom) of Helena, AL, and daughter, Kathy (Don) of Old Hickory, TN. Kathryn was the sixth child of ten children. Surviving are Louise Butt of Eubank, KY, Lois Hamm of Danville, KY, and Coy Godby of Somerset, KY. Kathryn has eight grandchildren; Bill of Crofton, MD, Becky of Lakewood, CO, Michael of Old Hickory, TN, Amy of Oveido, FL, Bryant of Louisville, KY, Jessica of Las Vegas, NV, Robbie of Lexington, KY. Kathryn is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Dungan, her son, Stephen Dungan, as well as many other loved ones. 

Kathryn always said "put first things first." That is what she did. She loved the Lord and honored Him all the days of her long life. After her husband, Maurice, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren passionately, and then her extended family.

Kathryn had many talents and interests. She was gifted musically, an excellent seamstress, great cook, as well as an avid sports fan.

Her greatest gift was her servant's heart. She was generous and always thinking of others and how she could help. She greatly impacted the lives of her kids, grandkids, and even her great-grandchildren-a legacy that truly demonstrates a life well lived.

The family asked that in lieu of flowers, that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Science Hill Garden Club.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 12:00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
