Joyce Lea-Nett Cook, 80, of Nancy, Kentucky went to Heaven on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at UK Chandler Hospital with Barbara, Mandy, and James Clark by her side.
Joyce was born on December 13, 1945 to the late Roscoe & Mary Elizabeth (Roger) Vaught in Hazard, Kentucky. She was raised in the Science Hill community, where her parents owned and operated Vaught's Garage along Highway 27. In time, she met the love of her life, Larry Lyndon Cook, with whom she built a family and shared many cherished years. She dedicated over 30 years of service to Pizza Hut until a car accident left her disabled. Though her life changed, it allowed her the blessing of spending more time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Joyce was preceded in death by her one true love, Larry L. Cook; her parents, Roscoe and Mary Vaught; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cleo and Grace Cook; and her step-children she considered her own, Eva Lee Cook Artis and Larry Dillon Cook.
She is survived by her three daughters, Grace Puckett, Lois & (Curt) West, and Barbara & (James) Clark all of Nancy; her siblings, Myrna, Elelyn, Auther, and Richard; her grandchildren, Adam Puckett, Kelsey West, Mandy Clark, Dreama Artis, Semaj Artis, and Aiden Cole; and a great-grandchild on the way.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
