Josephine Irene Hyden

Josephine Irene "Jo" Hyden, age 81, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born June 20, 1945, to the late Everett Harlan and Virginia (Biggs) Harlan in Blanchester, Ohio. Josephine shared over 45 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Vermont Hyden, until his passing. She retired from K-Mart and also worked as a monitor technician in the Intensive Care Unit, where she was affectionately known as "Mama Jo." In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, reading, writing, working on puzzles, sewing, and crocheting. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, David & (Donna) Hyden and Mark & (Tracey) Hyden; three grandchildren, Nadine Hyden, Taylor & (Ryan) Hyden, and Jordan Hyden; three great-grandchildren, Hazel Hyden, Walker Hyden, and Gabriel Richards; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett & Virginia Harlan; her husband, Vermont Hyden; one sister, Jeanette Kirby; and one niece, Karen;

The family would like to express a special thanks to Amanda and the entire team at Hospice of Lake Cumberland for everything they did for Jo.

In honor with Jo's wishes, no services will be held.
