Johnnie Elmer Thompson, 73, of Somerset, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born January 24, 1948 in Rockcastle County; son of the late Grover & Bessie Syble (Mink) Thompson. He worked as a drywall installer. Throughout his life he enjoyed outdoors activities including hunting, camping, & fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue (Bumgardner) Thompson; a daughter Melissa & (Ken) Upchurch of Monticello and two grandchildren, Chelsea Lauren Thompson & (Joshua) of Somerset and Jackson McKinley Upchurch of Monticello.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, James Harold Evans.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Cromer officiating.
Burial will be in Bobbitt Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
