Joe Thomas “Joe Tom” Floyd, 58, was born in Somerset, Kentucky on July 5, 1962. He passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021 with his wife and sister by his side.
Joe will be fondly remembered by those who knew him as a friendly and funny guy who enjoyed teasing people. He was loving, fun to be around, and a kind soul. When his nieces and nephews were younger, he enjoyed taking them camping at the creek, hunting, and four-wheeling. He also took them to numerous tractor pulls and even hosted many summer nights of tractor pulls in his own back yard. There was enough meat (that he had hunted) on the grill for everyone and lots of laughter and fun. Joe was a dairy farmer almost his whole life, and in the last five years he and Maribel also became foster parents to numerous children.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Dean A. “Pud” Floyd. Joe is survived by his wife, Maribel Bautista Floyd of Eubank, KY and his dogs, Peanut and Annie Mae; his mother, Virginia Baugh Floyd, of Louisville, KY; and his sisters Vickie Livesay, of Eubank, KY and Kathy Isaacs (John), of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by his nephews Samuel Isaacs and Johnny Isaacs (Shelly), both of Louisville, KY; and his nieces Lou Ann Isaacs Petzold (Franz), of The Woodlands, TX; Melanie Phelps (Miles), of Lexington, KY; and Lisa Lloyd (Brock), of Louisville, KY. He also had seven great nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at the Morris and Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 2:00pm. Visitation for family will begin at 4:00pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, and it will be open to friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday. Joe will be buried at Goodhope Cemetery.
