Jewell W. Richardson

Jewell Williams Richardson passed from this life to her eternal reward on November 9, 2020 at the Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Jewell reached the age of 101 years on October 11, 2020.

 

She did a lot of living in her 101 years. As a young girl she loved to help her dad, Jack, work in his blacksmith shop making horseshoes and wagon wheels. Her father played fiddle, banjo, guitar, & harmonica. He passed this love for music onto Jewell and her siblings, Iva and Raymond. Jewell played guitar, organ, and fiddle. They would get their chores done and then play music and sing before going to school in the morning. 

 

She worked in a factory in Cincinnati where she met her husband, Thomas Palmer Richardson. They were blessed with two children, Tom and Rosetta. After moving back to Casey County in the 50s, they owned a restaurant in Yosemite. She enjoyed making pies for the restaurant. One of her favorite pastimes was drawing and painting birds and wildlife. Bird watching and identifying them led to many enjoyable days. Jewell loved to fish for crappie and go pontooning on Lake Cumberland. Frying a big mess of fish and having family over for a meal on Sunday afternoon was a favorite activity for her. She was a big University of Kentucky basketball fan and watched her Cats on TV every time they were televised. Jewell was blessed to be a charter member of Grace Baptist Church. She has a host of church and community friends that rejoice in her finding peace with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Rosetta France; Daughter-in-law, Susan (Wilson) Richardson; grandchildren, Rodney & (Debbie) Overstreet, Larry & (Shannon) Richardson, Leah Richardson & (David Souders); great-grandchildren, Amanda Overstreet & (Adam Bartholomew), Ariel Richardson, Mason Richardson, Grant & (Emily) Richardson, Merina Richardson, Lance Souders, Carinne Souders, and Lincoln Souders; great-great-grandchildren, Cora Lesyk and Gunner & Maddox Bartholomew; and special nieces & nephews, Beverly Williams & (Wally Morris), Delores Reece & (Larry Wesley), Landis & (Sharon) Reece, and Harold & (Clarice) Reece.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vinnie Jack & Ella (Salyers) Williams; her husband, Palmer Richardson; her son, Tom Richardson; siblings, Raymond Williams Sadie Williams Todd, Iva Williams Reece, Inez Williams Fredricks; grandson, Jeff Overstreet; nephews, Darrell & Rex Reece; and nieces, Carol Sue Todd Vaught, Linda Reece, & JoAnn Reece Hargis.

 

A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Middleburg Cemetery in Casey County with Bro. Bill Haynes officiating.
