Jessie Ray Norfleet, 76, of Eubank, Kentucky and Bradenton, Florida passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on February 21, 1943; son of the late, Raymond and Martha Doss Norfleet. He was a retired insurance manager for Monumental Life Insurance Company in Sumter, SC. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War, a member of American Legion Post 345 and served as a fill in Chaplin. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Stanford, Kentucky and attended Bayshore Baptist Church in Bradenton, FL. He loved to fish and never left a yard sale without getting at least something to add to his collection.
He is survived by his wife Ella Mae West Norfleet; a daughter Amanda of Somerset; two step-sons Darius West of Eubank, and Darrell and (Jeannie) Black of Nicholasville; two granddaughters Harlie and Sydney Black; three brothers, Milford and (Sandy) Norfleet of Somerset, Chet and (Billie) Norfleet and Bobby and (Sue) Norfleet, both of Science Hill; one sister, Sally and (Jim) Sandidge of Eubank; two Vietnam brothers, Herbert Jones of Thompson Station, Tennessee, and Jay Smith of Stanford. a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Kevin Norfleet, and a Vietnam brother Dave Bailey.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11 AM at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Vola Brown, Bro. Dave Muse, Pastor Toney Hill and Bro. Mike Hill officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #18 Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home.
The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to a charity of your choice.
