Jess Kemper, 92, of Eubank, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his residence.
He was born in Eubank on April 9, 1927; son of the late A.R. & Wealthie "Blanche" (Landis) Kemper. Jess was a U.S. Army veteran and served at Fort Knox, Kentucky and in Korea until his discharge in 1946. He then became a carpenter, and worked in Dayton, Ohio until 1961. When he returned to Kentucky, he continued to build houses until his retirement. Jess joined the Mt. Gilead Masonic Lodge# 255 in 1963, and became a Kentucky Colonel in 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie (Parsons) Kemper; three children, Peggy Kemper, George & (Joan) Kemper, and Kris Kemper; three grandchildren, Chris Wooton, Amy Kemper, & Courtney Wooton Smith; five great-grandchildren, Alex Franklin, Madison Franklin, Jaden Mitchell, John Smith, & Andrew Osborne; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and ten siblings, Thelma Kemper Wagner, Mabel Kemper Karns, and Albert, Melvin, Orville, Virgil, Wilbur, Lawrence, Chester, & Marion Kemper.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Vola Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
