James Paul Vaught

James Paul Vaught, age 79, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Monday, September 7, 2026 at Somerwoods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born December 15, 1946 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, son of the late Henry and Nannie Adams Vaught. His work career in the food industry, included being a manager of Food Fair, Somerset, Kentucky, 21 years as a sales representative for Sysco Louisville, and 14 years as a sales representative with Gordon Food Service (GFS). Retiring in 2010, he enjoyed being home, managing his rental properties, and spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Burnside First Baptist Church, attending faithfully, and serving as Trustee. His life was dedicated to his Lord.

He is survived by his wife and companion of 29 years, Paula Bailey Vaught; two sons, Jamie & (Tara) Vaught of Lexington, KY and Michael Vaught of Somerset, KY; three step-children, R.D. Bailey & (Amy) of Union Grove, Alabama, LeAnne & (Jaye) Mitchell of Eubank, and Pasha Burton & (Justin Fields) of Somerset, KY; one sister, Ruth Brinson, of Somerset, KY; and one sister-in-law, Oma Vaught of Woodstock, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glen Vaught of Woodstock, KY; one sister, Christine Farmer of Somerset, KY; and two brother's-in-law, Leo Farmer and Vonis Brinson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky with Brother Jeff Griffith and Brother Jordan Burkes officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Baptist Church Cemetery of Pulaski, KY.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 AM until time for services.

Every day he asked to go home... he is now HOME.
