James "Jimmy" Edward Taylor, 78, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 in Evansville, Indiana at Linda E. Hospice House. He was born April 15, 1944 in Arabia, South Fork, Lincoln County, Kentucky; son of the late William A. Taylor & Maedell (Snow) Hawkins. He was also a brother to 22 siblings between his parents.
He was a member of South Fork Baptist Church and attended South Fork and McKinney schools. He worked in Bedford, Ohio at Bob Pennington's Gas Station and Doggie Diner; Sydney, Ohio at Ross Patterson Foundry and Copeland Refrigeration; McKinney, Kentucky as a mechanic at Coffmans's Garage; Lexington, Kentucky on the highlines for B&B Electric; L.E. Myers, Davis H. Elliott, & TVA. He retired April 6, 2006 after many years of hard work.
He was known by many as "Harv" & "Big T". He loved to fish, hunt, play cards, sing songs, and tell stories with friends and family. On June 12, 1965 he married Sandra Elizabeth Lindsley and together they had two children, one daughter and one son.
He is preceded in death by his father, William A. Taylor; three brothers, Lawrence, Kenneth, & Dallas "Tubby" Taylor; and eight sisters, Glenna Davis, Eva Alsip, Evelyn Wilson, Stella Rowland, Wilma Dobbs, Nina Kennedy, Lutie Tucker, and Debbie Depew; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Jean Taylor.
He leaves behind his mother, Maedell (Snow) Hawkins; one daughter and son, Renate & (Louis) Mason of Waynesburg and Gary & (Tanya) Taylor of South Fork; four grandchildren, Renate Michelle & (Ben) Padgett of Waynesburg, Jerrett & (Megan) Mason of McKinney, Kristen & (Lauren) Stead of Boston, Massachusetts, and Kyle Taylor of Danville; six great-grandchildren, Katie & (Tyler) Phillips of Stanford, Gracie Lynn, Kasey Jo and William Henry Padgett, Wade Ross and Parker Scott Mason; five brothers, Donald & (Martha) Taylor, Charles & (Martha) Taylor, Ronald Lee & (Janice) Taylor, Roscoe & (Nita) Taylor, and Keith & (Lisa) Taylor; and six sisters, Billie Graham, Louda Leigh, Francis Snow, Ruby Diane Wilson, Teresa & (Clark) Cook, and Janice Tean & (Don).
A celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the Linda E. White Hospice House at 611 Harriet St., Evansville, IN 47710.
