James Verlis Smith, 74, of Yosemite, passed away, Monday, December 28, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
He was born on November 13, 1946 in Pulaski County, Kentucky; son of the late Robert L. & Lucy (Bastin) Smith. He was a retired clerk for Somerset Auto Parts and was a United States Marine Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith; a son, Jimmy Smith of Yosemite, Kentucky; a step-son, Denny Meece of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a daughter, Thersa Case of Independence, Kentucky; a step-daughter, Jeannie Meece of Gaithersburg, Maryland; two brothers, Janis & (Nancy) Smith of Yosemite, Kentucky and Michael & (Janice) Smith of Eubank, Kentucky; a sister, Ethel & (Robert) Roy of Yosemite, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren, Amber, Brittany, Jordan, Dustin, Seth, Abby, Corey, Jeremy, Sydney, Shoshuana, Jacob, & Olivia; eleven great-grandchildren, Denton, Addison, Brantley, Trinity, Autumn, Briar, Brielle, Cullan, Everleigh, Ryan, & Luna; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ferlin Price & Bro. Barry Lee officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by Casey County Veteran's Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
