James "Jim" Neely McGinnis, 85, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at his residence.

He was born August 25, 1938; son of Ernest "Cap" and Nona Bell (Lowe) McGinnis. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed doing many things like hunting, fishing and bowling. Before his retirement, he worked many years as a telephone tech with GTE.

He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Lynn Rande of Flowery Branch, Georgia; two brothers, Jack McGinnis of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Robert McGinnis of Somerset, Kentucky; sisters, Mary Guffey of Monticello, Kentucky, Ivory DiPiero of Youngstown, Ohio, and Kathy McGinnis of Clinton, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jordan Rande and Cory Rande; one great grandchild, Nevaeh Rande; and a daughter in law, Michelle Whittemore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue (Williams); a son, Jimmy McGinnis; brothers, Clyde McGinnis and Jerry "Teddy" McGinnis; and sisters, Georgia Brown, Bonnetta Bertram and Beatrice Dishman.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Bro. Keith McKim and Bro. Bill Meece officiating.

Burial will be at Dishman Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12:00 PM.
