James Coy Godby

James Coy Godby, 75, of Science Hill, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
 
He was born February 8, 1945 in Somerset; son of the late Richard & Ethel Godby. He was a devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Science Hill, of which he was a Deacon for 49 years and the Church Clerk for 52 years. He was also a volunteer Fire Fighter for 52 years in Science Hill and served in the United States Army from September 14, 1965 until July 10, 1967. He retired from Prairie Farm Dairy.
 
He is survived by a son, Jeff & (Fiancè, Cheryl Nantz) Godby of Stanford; three daughters, Melissa & (Bob) Archer of Somerset, Pam Middleton of Science Hill, and Becky & (Greg) Greer of Waynesburg; a sister, Virginia Anderson of Somerset; six grandchildren, James Allen, Rickie, Brittany, Trevor, Faith, and Craig; and a great-grandson, Mason Alexander Godby.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Linda Kay Godby who passed away on October 15, 2019; a brother, Curt Godby; a sister, Myrtle Stringer; and a grandchild, Amber.
 
Private Services will be held Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Evans officiating.
 
Live streaming of the service will be available at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 29, 2020 on the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home Facebook Page.
 
A drive-thru service will be held at 2:40 PM Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, we ask that all participants arrive and line up at the directional signage by 2:40 PM on Sunday in the parking lot, we kindly ask that you remain in your vehicle, and observe all social distancing guidelines as set forth by the CDC.  
 
Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Science Hill.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund.
