James Herman Bishop, 85, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Eubank, Kentucky on August 27, 1932, son of the late Fred and Nannie York Bishop. He was a farmer. Mr. Bishop had accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and was baptized.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Ella May Anthony, Della Faye & (Russell) Wall, Dorothy & (Estill) Surber, Pauline & (Charles) Doolin, Carl & (Thelma) Bishop and twins who died at birth, Clarence and Clara Bishop, a nephew whom he loved as a son, Charles "Bobby" Surber, many close friends and several other nieces and nephews.
He is survived by Bobby's wife, Janice Surber and her brothers and sisters who cared for him every day. He is also survived by good friends, Debbie and Ferlin Price and Kim Alexander who often brought food and desserts to his home.
Mr. Bishop requested that there be no formal funeral and to be laid to rest at the Etna Cemetery by his best friends, Thomas Bradshaw, Richard Bradshaw, Robert Bradshaw and Blake Bradshaw.
A visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be held.
