Harold Lee Cash

Harold Lee Cash, 68, of Somerset passed away suddenly on Friday, December 24, 2021, at his residence. He was born to the late Joe Russell and Eudena Sowder Cash on February 5th.

 

At the age of 7, Harold was the first Pulaski Countian to undergo open heart surgery to repair a large hole in the dividing wall of his heart. He was a 1971 graduate of Eubank High School where he was a member of the basketball team. Following graduation Harold officiated basketball games for several years.

 

Harold was a member of Floyd Switch Baptist Church. He worked at Tecumseh Products from 1975 until the plant's closing. Harold was retired from the City of Somerset Water Department.

 

In 1978 Harold joined the Somerset Jaycees which led to a number of years of community service. During the year he served as president Harold was recognized as one of the forty top local presidents in the nation. He also received the Thoroughbred and JCI Senate awards which were presented for outstanding achievement in the state and international Jaycees respectively. His passion for the Pulaski County Fair led Harold to serve on the Fair Board for over forty years serving many of those as president.

 

Harold enjoyed attending local stock car races, NASCAR, UK football and basketball. His greatest pride and joy came from watching his children and grandchildren in their numerous activities.

 

Harold is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Diana Zurface Cash; three children, Scott (and Shelly) Cash of Oneida, TN, Elizabeth (and Brady) Anderson of Somerset, and Ryan (and Rebecca) Cash of Science Hill; and nine grandchildren, Rayse, Kamden, Bentlee, Blaine, Andrew, and Logan Cash, Weston Hatfield, and Gabriella and Hayden Anderson. Harold is also survived by two brothers, David (and Kera) Cash and Gerald (and Tammy) Cash, all of Eubank. He is also survived by several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

 

A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gordy Prather, Bro. Hamp Wooten, and Bro. Steven Bates officiating.

 

Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Rayse Cash, Weston Hatfield, Andrew Cash, Darin Jones, Tyrel Todd, and David Dick. Honorary pallbearers will be Kamden Cash, Logan Cash, Hayden Anderson, Bentlee Cash, Blaine Cash, Eric Williams, Dustin Cash, Chad Lynn and Gabriella Anderson.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
