Gerald Down

Gerald Dean Down, 81, of Somerset, KY passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at Deane Hill Place of Knoxville, TN.

Gerald was born November 7, 1941 to the late Prescott and Dorothy (Durling) Down in Wyoming, IL. He enjoyed hiking at Mt. LeConte, running races and marathons, gardening, and especially loved having cattle. He attended Campground Baptist Church.

He is survived by three children, Susan & (Bill) Davis of Nancy, KY; Jeff & (Deborah) Down of Great Falls, MT; and Deborah & (Paul) Fedorchak of Mercer, PA; six grandchildren, Tracy & (Tim) Fields of Nancy, KY; Jamie & (Logan) Harris of Somerset, KY; Lauren & (Bryce) Marker of Mercer, PA; Logan Fedorchak of Mercer, PA; Jordan Down of Lubbock, TX; and Zach & (Haley) McEntive of Tyler, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph Perry, Collin, Fields, Isabel Fields, Madison Harris, Connor Harris, Olivia Marker, and Bradley Marker; two brothers, Sam & (Ginny) Down, and Jim Down; two sisters, Anne & (Bill) Nolan, and Diane Mugge; a sister-in-law, Maryanne Down; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Down, and a brother-in-law, Michael Mugge.

A memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date.
