Gary Hilton Prows

Gary Hilton Prows, age 72, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026 at his residence in Somerset.

He was born December 14, 1953 to the late Lester Hilton & Fern Ethel Prows in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gary loved the Lord deeply and devoted his life to sharing his faith with others. He had had a true passion for preaching and served as an evangelist after being ordained by the Free Pentecostal Church in 1974. Music was another passion of his, as he loved playing music at church and especially with his sister, Geneva. When he had the opportunity, he enjoyed fishing and sharing moments with his wife watching WLJC.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean (Eldridge) Prows; his daughter, Sunshine & (Chad) Edwards; two step-daughters, Sue Hughes and Amanda Padgett; two sisters, Wanda Farley and Geneva & (Terry) Orcutt; six grandchildren, Andrea, Andrew, Stephen, Dee, Kaylee, and Karmen; four step-grandchildren, Dakota, Destiny, Britney, and Dustin; and three great-grandchildren, including Emerson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Hayes; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Farley and Lester Poynter.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 1:00PM in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Orcutt and Bro. Stan Rutland officiating.

Burial will follow at Mill Springs National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time for services at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post # 38.
