Gale Hampton

Gale Hampton, 92, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

He was born on October 21, 1930 in Letcher Co. to the late Jasper and Georgia Back Hampton. He enjoyed farming, gardening and always put his family first. On September 17, 1954 he married Jeanette (Eldridge) Hampton and with this union they were blessed with three children; Kathie Stevens of Corbin, Jana & (Doug) Baugh of Eubank, and Dwayne & (Melissa) Hampton of Waynesburg.

In addition to his children, he is survived by a sister, Orene & (Paul) Correll; five grandchildren, Kelly & (Earl) Gregory, Amy & (Scott) McGinnis, Daniel & (Brandi) Stevens, Samantha Hampton, Kyle Hampton; five great-grandchildren, Summar & (Ricky) Ferguson, Trevor McGinnis, Ashton Gregory, Emmarie Antle, Grayson Antle; and a great-great-grandchild, Leelynn Ferguson.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeanette (Eldridge) Hampton who passed away on July 11, 2019; his parents, Jasper and Georgia Back Hampton; step-father Lloyd Day; siblings, Glendon Hampton, Donald Hampton, Gladys Thompson, Vaultie Hampton, Estill Day and Mary Ann Yantz; a special cousin, Darrell Hampton; grandsons Michael Stevens and Zachary Hampton.

Pallbearers are Earl Gregory, Daniel Stevens, Ashton Gregory, Kyle Hampton, Scott McGinnis, Trevor McGinnis, and Ricky Ferguson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, December 30, 2022 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Eastham officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Waynesburg.

The family will receive friends after 11 AM Friday, December 30, 2022 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home until time for services.
