Gene "Tootle" Hill, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Jean Waddle Care Center. He was born on December 13, 1943, in Oneida, KY.
Gene had a diverse career where he worked for many years as a talented sign painter and also as a dedicated truck driver. Aside from his professional life, Gene was known for his warm personality. He was a very likeable individual who never knew a stranger; his friendly demeanor and kind heart touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In his leisure time, Gene indulged in his love for cooking by preparing delicious meals for those around him. He found joy in sharing his culinary creations with family and friends. Additionally, Gene had a passion for Mustang cars and enjoyed everything about these iconic vehicles.
One of Gene's proudest accomplishments was being a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 40 years. Through this organization, he engaged in charitable initiatives that positively impacted his community. He professed his faith as a Christian in 2023.
He is survived by his dear wife, Fronie Mae (Morgan) Hill; his three sons, Jimmy Hill, Jackie & (Terry) Hill, and Johnny & (Michelle) Hill; a grandson, Justin Tyler Hill; a sister, Pat Carlton; and his beloved dog, Jetta.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Shafter Stidham; his mother, Helen Yates; his step-father, Sydney Yates; and four brothers, Jackie Yates, Bill Yates, David Yates, and Jimmy Yates.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Sawyer officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 AM until time for services.
Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
