Eric Dale Dunbar

Eric Dale Dunbar, 43, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Eric was born on July 18, 1983 to Michael Dunbar & Melissa (Antle) Branscum in Campbellsville, KY. He enjoyed golfing and was a lifelong UK Wildcat and Chicago Cubs fan. He had a special love for animals and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. For more than a decade, he volunteered with Moveable Feast, giving his time to help feed those experiencing homelessness. He also proudly helped raise money for the Lexington Humane Society, reflecting his deep compassion for both people and animals.

Eric truly never met a stranger. He had a heart that made room for everyone, whether they were a lifelong friend or someone he had just met. His generosity was perhaps most evident around Thanksgiving, when he would spend countless nights making sure the turkeys were just right for the dozens of people he would help feed. To Eric, there was no distinction between friends and strangers-they were all simply people who deserved a good meal, a warm welcome, and a place at the table. His kindness was genuine, his heart was big, and he had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged.

He is survived by his mother, Melissa & (Dean) Branscum of Eubank, KY; his father, Michael Dunbar of Russell Springs, KY; and his brother, Craig Dunbar of Russell Springs.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Renee Dunbar.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jordan Burks officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 AM until time for services.
