Emma Marie Rutherford Wilson was born to the late Oscar Cleo Rutherford & Mary Agnes (Birt) Rutherford on May 14, 1929. She departed this life on November 10, 2023 at the age of 94 and a half years old and entered into eternal rest in her heavenly home.
Emma was a kind hearted woman, always ready to give a caring hand to others. She enjoyed her family with open arms and loved each and every one. Especially spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always made her day.
She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and cooking for family and friends over the years. In her later years the front porch was her friend, where she waited quietly for her hummingbirds to appear to dab in the feeders. Emma was always swinging on her porch swing and loved to be in nature. Another of her favorite birds were the red birds, of which she even had a pet bird that she named, Ole Red. She even made a song for her pet bird, which sang, "Ole Red, come get your bread", and he would hilariously come flying from the trees to be fed by Emma. She loved that bird and was always excited to see him.
Emma also enjoyed her little shopping trips to Walmart and her stops at Cracker Barrel, Wendy's, and sometimes KFC. This was a highlight of her day that she enjoyed in her later years of life.
She was a member of the Freedom Christian Church in Eubank, and also enjoyed attending the Polly Ann Baptist Church, especially during their Gospel singings and fellowship gatherings.
Emma leaves behind four children, Agnes & (Marvin) Wesley, Roy & (Pam) Wilson, and Ray Wilson, all of Eubank, and Charles J. Wilson of Morgan County, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren, Melynda & (Matt) Elder and Kelli New, both of Eubank, Kristi Lay of Lexington, Jason Wilson of Eubank, Brittany & (LJ) Henderson of Nancy, Ryan Wesley of Eubank, Amanda & (Jordan) Whitaker of Eubank, Krystal Taylor of Nancy, Michael & (Tina) Wilson of Eubank, Cherel & (Shannon) Gibson of Eubank, and Aaron, Austin, & Adam Baker, all of Somerset; fourteen great-grandchildren, Dylan & (Kayla) Elder of Eubank, Chloe Elder of Eubank, Jacob & Dakota Wilson of Science Hill, Austin & Justin Taylor of Nancy, Noah, Nick, and Emily Wilson, all of Eubank, and Ellianne & Macie Whitaker, both of Eubank; and one great-great-grandchild, Dawson Matthew Elder of Eubank.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Harry Wilson, who passed on August 23, 1996; her children, Nancy Bell Wilson, Mike H. Wilson, and Marie Ellen New; brothers, Clarence, Russell, Robert, Glen, & Ford Rutherford, all of Eubank; sisters, Alberta Levine of Eubank, Della Hall of Florida, Nellie Nevels of Indiana, and Nanie Rutherford of Eubank; and a son-in-law, Robert New.
