Lucille Murphy

Lucille Murphy, 95, of Science Hill, KY, passed away May 11, 2023 at her home.

She was born May 4, 1928 in Pulaski County, daughter of the late Charlie and Grace (Mounce) Mayfield. She spent many years working at Dick's Hilltop Rest Home, caregiving and loving the many patients in her care. King Bee Baptist Church was where she was a dedicated member. She enjoyed singing for the Lord each service and was loved by all. Making time to spend with her girls, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was a priority, as well as many extended family members and friends. She welcomed hosting family holidays and birthday dinners, as well as the traditional first day of deer hunting breakfast.

Predeceased by James Godby (first husband); the love of her life Boyd Murphy (second husband); Dean Griffin (son-in-law); Theresa Murphy (daughter); Brendan (grandson); Samantha (granddaughter); her siblings Leonard, Carlos, Howard, Clovis, Hubert, Christine, Mae, and Cecil Mayfield.

Survived by her four daughters, Devonda Griffin; Patsy (Brent) Gilpin; Hilda Back; and Glenda Hines; six grandchildren, Chris Griffin; Eric (Ashley) Young; Stephanie (Corey) Stevenson; Amy Gilpin; Brandon (Pam) Gilpin; and Allison Hines (Peachy Girl); and nine great-grandchildren, Clayton, Lilly, Shelby, Carlee, Logan, Ryland, Seth, Kaylyn, Jesse, and Samuel.

Her Murphy children felt her love and care always guiding them: Colleen (Lonny); Michael (Melanie); Patrick Murphy; Davida Williams; and Kevin Murphy; eleven grandchildren, Tessa, Keely, Savannah, Dakota, Jacob, Ryan, Patricia, Michael, Jillian, Jessica, and Schelayne; and sixteen great-grandchildren, River, Island, Stone, Audrey, Connor, Raegan, Hazel, Rose, Andrew, Spencer, Millie, Ziva, Serenity, Jagger, Alessia, and Jaylend.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Daulton and Bro. Charles Meece officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 16, 2023 until time for services.

Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
