Elsie Samantha Price, 61, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland's Jean Waddle Care Center.

Born on May 30, 1965, in Richmond, Kentucky, Elsie was the daughter of Louanna Fletcher Chaney and the late Willie Anderson Barron.

Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was devoted to caring for others and finding joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a kind and nurturing spirit, and being a caregiver came naturally to her. She especially loved children and babies, always finding happiness in the opportunity to love and care for those around her.

Elsie enjoyed attending church, cooking, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and canning. She took great pride in the beautiful flowers that adorned her porch and found peace and happiness in tending to them. She also enjoyed four-wheeling, playing BINGO on her laptop, and taking trips into town. Her love for animals held a special place in her heart, particularly her donkeys, with Ruth being an especially beloved companion.

Above all, Elsie's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with them, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. Elsie and her husband, Jerry, were affectionately known as "Mamaw and Papaw," not only to their grandchildren but also to their grandchildren's friends and many others whose lives they touched. Their home and hearts were always open, and the love they shared extended far beyond their immediate family.

Throughout her journey, Elsie developed a special bond with the staff at Markey Cancer Center in Mt. Vernon, whom she considered not simply her caregivers, but dear friends. Their kindness and compassion meant a great deal to her.

Elsie is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Price, whom she married on August 23, 1978; her loving mother, Louanna Chaney; her grandchildren, Emma & (Matt) Maples, Jeriann & (Billy) Taylor, Isaiah Price & (Marguerite Stanislav), and Bailey Price; and her precious great-grandson, Waylon Walker Taylor.

In addition to her father, Willie Anderson Barron, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jerry Wayne Price II; a great-grandson, Jerry Taylor; and a special friend, Sherry Goff Roberts.

Elsie will be remembered for her caring heart, her love of family, and the warmth she brought to the lives of those around her. The memories she created and the love she so freely gave will remain a lasting part of the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Private funeral services will be held, with burial to follow in Price Cemetery.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
