Doris Marie Godbey

Doris Marie Godbey, 73, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.

She was born on June 9, 1953 to the late Jim & Mattie (Bolen) Rednour in Wayne County, Kentucky. Doris found great joy in tending to her flower beds and took pride in the beauty they brought to her home. An avid antique collector and dealer, she had a keen eye for unique treasures and delighted in discovering and sharing pieces of the past. She loved watching the birds that gathered nearby and found peace in the simple pleasures of nature. She also enjoyed traveling and making cherished memories on trips with those she loved. Above all else, Doris treasured time spent with her family, whose love and companionship were the greatest joys of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Godbey; her daughter, Dana Sue & (Scott) Hansford; son-in-law, James Smith; her grandchildren, Katie Smith, Willie & (Kayla) Harris, and Victor Hansford; her great-grandchildren, Liam Harris, Elena Harris, and Matthew Harris; a sister, Ada Smith; and her mother-in-law, Mathel Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Beckey Marie (Godbey) Smith; and two sisters and four brothers.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 12 PM at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Merrick officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
