Eubank, Kentucky

David Kilby, a beloved resident of Eubank, KY, passed away at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center, on December 21st, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on December 9th, 1949, in Danville, KY, David was the son of the late William Harold Kilby, of Waynesburg, and Addie Beatrice (Padgett) Meek, of Louisville, formerly of Kings Mountain.

Throughout his life, David made a significant impact as the Owner & Operator of Kilby Trucking. His dedication and hard work were evident in everything he did. He was passionate about his career and took pride in providing exceptional service to his customers.

David's military service added further depth to his character. He served as a Veteran of the United States Army and bravely fought for his country during the Vietnam War. David found himself behind enemy lines, demonstrating not only his courage but also his unwavering commitment to protecting others.

Beyond the demands of work and military service, David cultivated numerous hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was an active member of the Corvette Club and enjoyed participating in drag racing events. NASCAR held a special place in his heart, and he eagerly followed every race with enthusiasm.

A true adventurer at heart, David spent a lifetime dedicated to trucking. The open road was both his livelihood and his escape, allowing him to explore new destinations and experience the freedom that comes with travel.

David's love for nature extended beyond the confines of the road as he also had a passion for farming. There was something inherently satisfying to him about caring for animals and tending to the land. It provided him with a sense of peace and tranquility.

On December 21, 2023, David Kilby passed away at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. While our hearts ache from this loss, we take comfort in knowing that David lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication.

Those who were fortunate enough to have known David will remember him not only for his incredible work ethic but also for his warm-heartedness and unwavering loyalty. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a cherished legacy that will be forever enshrined in our hearts.

David was a loving husband to Nancy (Hart) Kilby, married on February 2, 1996. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. David was also a proud father to his son Jeff Davis, of Lexington, and daughter Natasha Davis (Larry Freer), of Science Hill. A loving “Poppy” to his three adoring grandchildren, Jaclyn Zada, Harper Ansley, and Weston Charles of Science Hill.  Also considered as a son, Matt (Susan) Moberly of Georgetown, showing his capacity for love and generosity.
